When I first started this blog I thought I’d have more posts under the “Do Something” category. I don’t know, I either haven’t been “doing” much or just forget to write about it. So today I did a craft, a Wine Cork Ball…and I even remembered to take pictures so I could write about it! See not all my posts are about cooking or cocktails!
I came across a really cool picture on Pinterest of a cork ball which led me to the blog All Put Together. I just happened to have a bunch of wine corks so I thought it would be a fun project to make. Instead of rewriting all the instructions, just check out her blog here for the instructions. You might even find some other fun stuff to make while you’re there!
This was a very easy project, but beware, you do need a lot of wine corks! I had to ask my neighbor for some since I didn’t have enough. First you paint the styrofoam ball, let it dry, then start glueing on the corks. I wasn’t quite sure how I should glue the corks on, meaning, if I should do them in rows or what order. I kind of did rows but got a little sloppy so don’t look to close, I have a few gaps. I don’t really think it matters though, you can’t really tell unless you’re looking really close at it.
So many places to use this for decor. You can put it on your bar….
…and while I’m looking at this bar picture, can someone please give me a good explanation why there are two outlets in such a small space?
You can also put the cork ball on your fireplace mantle…
or in a basket of balls…
On a bookcase shelf…
Or on a side table…
Sorry about all the photos but I was just having some fun seeing where I liked this cork ball the best. It goes anywhere. Now I think I want to make a smaller one to go with it! Guess I need to start drinking more wine 🙂
