Hot Buttered Rum
A classic holiday drink and perfect for those cold wintery nights snuggled up in front of the fire.
For the Spiced Butter mixture:
  • 1 stick butter
  • ½ C. brown sugar
  • 1½ tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • ½ tsp. cloves
  • ½ tsp. ginger
For the Hot Butter Rum Cocktail
  • 1 heaping spoonful of the Spiced Butter
  • 1 shot dark rum (I used Meyers)
  • Boiling hot water
For the Garnish:
  • orange peel
  • cinnamon stick
To make the Spiced Butter:
  1. In a small mixing bowl, combine softened butter with brown sugar and spices. Mix well. Set aside.
To Make a Hot Buttered Rum:
  1. In an Irish coffee glass or other mug, add spiced butter batter and rum.
  2. Pour hot water over top and give it a stir.
  3. Garnish with orange peel and cinnamon stick
