Happy New Year!!! Next up on my Top 10 end of the year lists is this round up of the Top 10 Cocktails of 2014. This list includes only the cocktails that were posted during 2014. Maybe you’ll find one on this list that you’ve enjoyed this past year…or give one a try tonight while you’re celebrating the New Year!
#10 Caipirinha
I have to admit I’m really happy the Caipirinha made the top 10 this year. Not only is it one of my favorites, it’s also one of my favorite photos I took this year!
#9 Aphrodite Martini
The Aphrodite Martini was my Valentines Day cocktail last year. It’s a delicious drink with flavors of raspberry, peach, orange and lemon.
#8 White Russian Martini
This White Russian Martini is another one of my favorites. White Russians (and Black Russians) are one of my go-to after dinner cocktails and drinking it in a martini glass makes it even more special. This drink was part of my 12 Days of Christmas Cocktails series and I’m happy to see it made a strong showing so late in the year.
#7 Hot Buttered Rum
This Hot Buttered Rum was also part of my 12 Days of Christmas Cocktails and is a wonderful drink to sip on those chilly winter evenings. And don’t forget, you can use the spiced butter mix on toast!
#6 Bourbon Apple Cider Cocktail
I’m much more of a vodka drinker than a bourbon drinker, but I truly enjoyed this Bourbon Apple Cider Cocktail. The cider, ginger and cinnamon sugar rim is what did it for me. Delicious!!!
#5 Watermelon Moscow Mule
Moscow Mules were a popular drink in 2014 and my Watermelon Moscow Mule version with fresh watermelon juice was a hit!
#4 Limoncello
Homemade Limoncello is a real treat. It takes a bit of time because you have to peel the lemons but it’s worth the effort. Make up a batch to keep in the freezer (it’s my secret ingredient in my Lemon Drop Martini).
#3 Grapefruit St. Germain Martini
I got the recipe for this fantastic Grapefruit St. Germain Martini from the bartender at a wonderful restaurant here in Washington, DC (Le Diplomat). Something about the combination of fresh grapefruit juice, elderflower liqueur and rosemary that just works!
#2 Pumpkin Spice Latte Martini
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised to see the success of this Pumpkin Spice Latte Martini since PSL is all the rage during September and October. To be honest, I’ve never had a pumpkin spice latte before, but this martini was absolutely delicious! And made with real pumpkin and spices…no artificial flavorings here.
And the most visited cocktail recipe posted on the blog during 2014 is…
#1 Pecan Pie Martini
I will have to admit I was a bit surprised to see this Pecan Pie Martini was the most popular drink of 2014…it must have been the pretty picture that caught lots of attention. But it’s not just a pretty face, it’s actually a delicious drink too!
I will still always love my Lemon Drop Martini and my Pomegranate Martini, and since they were posted in 2013 they’re not eligible for this list, but they’re my all time favorites. It is fun, however, to try different cocktails throughout the year and I love having this blog to do just that and I thank you for sharing in all my experiments! I hope you enjoyed this round up of the Top 10 Cocktails of 2014. Wonder what the all time most visited drink on my blog is? Click here to find out.
