Gin Basil Spritz

If you’re craving a cocktail that’s light, refreshing, and packed with flavor, this Gin Basil Spritz is perfect. It’s a delicious combo of gin, Aperol, fresh basil, and grapefruit juice, sweetened with a touch of simple syrup, and topped with tonic water for a fizzy finish. The basil adds a fresh, herbal twist, while the simple syrup balances out the tartness of the grapefruit and the bitterness of Aperol. It’s the kind of drink that’s refreshing yet layered and totally enjoyable.

I was in Oklahoma last week and my friend, Julie, made this cocktail for me.  Typically, I’m not a huge gin fan but I thought why not give it a try?  To my delight, it was quite tasty and I really enjoyed it!  To whip it up, start by muddling a few basil leaves with simple syrup to release their flavor. Then, add gin, Aperol, and grapefruit juice, shake it all up, and pour over ice. Top with tonic water or club soda, and garnish with a basil sprig and a wedge of grapefruit. It’s easy, it’s vibrant, and it’s perfect for impressing friends or just treating yourself to something special. Cheers!
