Figs and whiskey make a delicious combination and this Whiskey Fig Martini is sure to please all the whiskey and fig lovers out there. You could even substitute your favorite bourbon if you like.
I saw a recipe recently for maple roasted figs from The Roasted Root. Her pictures were so beautiful and the first thought that came to mind was to make them into a martini! I roasted the figs with maple syrup as directed in the recipe and added some thyme. I thought about muddling the figs for the cocktail but I really don’t like a lot of pulp in my drinks so I pureed them instead. Whiskey (or bourbon) seemed to be the perfect spirit to use with figs so I went with that.
To finish the Whiskey Fig Martini, I double strained it, just to make sure I wasn’t getting little fig seeds stuck in my teeth! The maple roasted figs were lovely in this cocktail and, unless you’re making a lot of cocktails, there’s enough leftover fig puree to spread on some bread with goat cheese for a delightful appetizer to accompany your cocktail!
