The kind folks at Azzurre Spirits provided me with a bottle of their ultra premium vodka for me to sample just in time for National Vodka Day tomorrow.  Thank you Azzurre Spirits! Of course I went right to work crafting a cocktail with this delicious spirit.  I made a White Cranberry Cosmo with the vodka and it was totally delicious!

White Cranberry Cosmo with Azzurre VodkaFor all my readers that limit gluten in your diet, you’ll be happy to learn that Azzurre Vodka is gluten free and is not made from any grains at all.  Instead, Azzurre Vodka is made from apples, wine grapes, and sugar cane.  It’s quite smooth without much of that harsh after burn you get with some other vodkas.  According to the company, the vodka is minimally distilled and filtered. I can imagine it would be an excellent vodka to drink in a straight up vodka martini, but since I prefer my cocktails with a little juice, I went with some white cranberry juice today.

And just to change this White Cranberry Cosmo up a bit from a traditional cosmopolitan, I used some elderflower liqueur instead of the Triple Sec (or Cointreau) I typically use in my cosmopolitans and pomegranate martinis. I thought the elderflower liqueur paired nicely with the subtle white cranberry juice.  The juice I used was a combination of white cranberry and white grape which compliments the Azzurre Vodka perfectly.  A squeeze of lime and splash of simple syrup was added to finish it off.  You could easily omit the simple syrup if you want.

White Cranberry CosmopolitanGive this light and refreshing White Cranberry Cosmo martini a try, I think you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.  And next time you’re at the liquor store, grab yourself a bottle of Azzurre Vodka and give it a taste!  I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
