Classic Manhattan Cocktail

I was in NYC this past weekend so it seemed appropriate to post a Classic Manhattan Cocktail. The Manhattan is such a simple drink to make. I use bourbon as it’s base liquor – that’s what my whiskey loving friend likes most – but you could use a rye whiskey if you prefer.  Bourbon has a sweeter profile while rye has a spicier profile.

Other than the whiskey, all you need is some sweet vermouth, aromatic bitters and a cherry garnish (I like Luxardo cherries!). Stir and serve in a chilled cocktail glass and enjoy!
